Arbuthnott is situated in north-east Scotland some 25 miles south of Aberdeen in the heart of the Kincardineshire Countryside.
The holiday houses are the result of an imaginative conversion of the old village school into three - three bedroomed houses. This was the former school of the well known Scots author Lewis Grassic Gibbon, who immortalised the area in his popular novel Sunset Song.

Local outings could include visiting stately homes, castles, gardens or even the local distillery. There are many sporting facilities nearby and the opportunity for other activities such as sea or river fishing, golf, riding, interesting walks and bird watching on the nearby sea cliffs.

There are three houses each with three bedrooms, bathroom, additional downstairs loo, spacious kitchen and living room.
Two houses have a double bedroom and two twin bedded rooms: the third house has a double, a twin and a single room but can also sleep six with a sofa-bed in the living room.
All houses have fully fitted carpets and floor coverings in the bathroom and kitchen. All the windows are double glazed and have new curtains or blinds. There is a Payphone, Colour T.V. and Video.
Bathrooms include bath, shower, heated towel rail and electric shaving point. The kitchens are fully equipped with fridge, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine / tumble drier.
Ironing facilities are provided. All necessary kitchen utensils, cutlery, plates, dishes, linen, towels and duvets are supplied. Cots and high chairs are available but please bring your own cot linen. The first £20 of electricity is supplied free: further meter cards may be purchased on arrival if required. All the houses are fully heated by Total Control Central Heating.

There is private car-parking outside the houses and a fenced garden area suitable for children or barbecue. The village playing field is nearby with a toddlers' play area. The Grassic Gibbon Visitor Centre which is situated within easy walking distance serves light snacks throughout the day. A full range of shops are to be found in Inverbervie, under three miles away on the North Sea coast. Provisions to start you off may be ordered in writing, in advance. Public transport is available in Inverbervie. Situated on the 2000 acre Arbuthnott Estate there is ample scope for stimulating walks and picnicking. Fishing permits are available free from the Arbuthnott Estate Office. Dogs are welcome provided they have their own bedding and do not use the beds or other furniture. It is essential that any pets are house trained and under control at all times.
